Looking Your Best on your Wedding Day
On our wedding day we all strive to look our best, so we talked to Shahla Moody, an aesthetic nurse with 25 years experience in plastic surgery and now a beauty clinician with her own practice.
We asked her what are the most simple procedures that will have the greatest impact. Here are her thoughts.
Firstly beauty starts on the inside, so drinking two litres of clear water every day along with a good balanced diet, low in sugars and animal fat and a good night's sleep is the foundation to looking good. Top this with a walk every day, minimise or cut out alchohol and cigarettes and you are three-quarters of the way there.
Now give yourself a long hard look: look at photographs, look in the mirror, don't ask anyone else, just assess yourself, and list what you like and don't like about yourself. Some things can be changed, some things can be helped, some things you just have to accept are what make you, you. Start six months before the wedding and never stop.
Surface imperfections should be the first to go and are the easiest to get rid of:
- Blocked pores - it comes down to what you apply to your face and how often you wash it off.
- Spots - Change diet, drink water, get fresh air, use a skin-cleansing routine and apply appropriate skin care from a respected skincare range.
- Whiteheads - respond to exfoliation and lighter skin care products, and lower fat in diet
- Blackheads - stick to a cleansing routine and never sleep in make up. Close pores with cold water.
- Bushy eyebrows - have them professionally plucked and keep on top of new growth.
- Moustache - GET RID OF IT! Wax it, or bleach it, or use hair removal cream. Consult a beauty therapist to permanently remove. Never shave or pluck.
- Hairs on Chin - see above!
- Wearing Glasses - try contact lenses for special occasions
- Hair - is your colour right for your skintone and eye and eyebrow colour? Have a chat with a hairdresser to see what style suits you best.
Great advice from Shahla!
