Ten Tips for Looking Younger
by our Skin Care Consultant and member of the Ribbons and Pearls team, Karine Antinoro
- Clean up before bedtime - never go to bed without removing your make-up. It will clog up the pores and stop your skin from breathing. You also have more time in the evening to devote to skincare, so make it a habit.
- Fresh-faced glow - mix a tiny amount of exfoliating cream with your nightly cleanser and you will have a fabulous fresh face that looks smooth and glowing the following morning.
- Night repair work - The skin repairs itself while we sleep, so use night-time skincare products to exfoliate and hydrate the deeper layers.
- Moisturise before make-up - don't forget to moisturise before you put on your make-up, as it will give the skin a healthy look. Wait 5-10 minutes and then apply your make-up.
- Cold spoon compress - keep two metal teaspoons in the fridge, place the metal on the swollen area and gently press for 60 seconds to reduce puffiness.
- Never experiment on the day - face masks, soothing eye pads and other beauty products might affect the way your skin looks, so don't carry out any treatment for the first time prior to a special occasion. It could turn red and lumpy.
- 30-second skin reviver - place a hand towel in steaming water(not boiling) and cover your face for 30 seconds, then splash cold water over your face.
- Essential eye care - the skin around the eyes is delicate and prone to fine lines and wrinkles, so always use a cream only designed for that area. Apply a few drops under each eye and pat gently from below the pupil to the outer corner.
- Remember your cleavage - apply day or night cream to your chest area from the top of your bust to your neck, the skin here can become unsightly and be a telltale sign of age.
- Keep hands protected - cover them up with rubber gloves for washing-up or gardening gloves when working outside, as they can take quite a battering.
